Xvest Turbobells Dumbbell Review

Who would have ever thought that for just a few hundred dollars you could bring home two dumbbells that equal up to 120 pounds of weight? This may seem like a dream, but with the new technology that has made adjustable dumbbells possible, it is a dream that has come into reality. One of the most affordable options on the market right now is the Xvest Turbobells adjustable dumbbell set.

This set will cost you just a few hundred dollars and that includes the pair of Xvest Turbobells plus a nice three-legged stand and two smaller stands to hold each individual dumbbell. Considering some of the most competitive brands are selling similar dumbbells for three hundred dollars or more for just one single dumbbell, you see that this is an incredible value.

While you may find the larger stand to be incredibly useful and it does have a nice style to it with two front curved legs that go out to the sides, it does take up a lot more room than just storing the two dumbbells on a table or another stand. For this reason, many people do not use the larger stand. You can still use the smaller stands where the dumbbells actually sit since they are smaller and don’t need to be attached to the bigger stand to be functional.

The Xvest Turbobells adjust in 2.5 pound increments on each side of each dumbbell, so you could transition in 2.5 increments on each hand but it will feel more stable if you adjust in 5 pound increments by adjusting both dumbbell ends 2.5 pounds at a time.

The minimum weight that can be lifted is 5 pounds, with 2.5 pounds positioned on each end of the dumbbells. The maximum weight that can be achieved on each arm is 60 pounds. This is a great weight range for those who are just starting out with weightlifting, though the upper end of the range is also suitable to those who are fit and toned but don’t like to lift too heavy.

Xvest Turbobells Features

There are two very innovative features that must be noted about the design of the Xvest Turbobells:

1. The handles are designed with two flat sides and are covered in rubber. The flat sides allow for greater control over the weight as it will not roll in your hand as many round handles tend to do. The rubber is also a nice touch because adds some cushioning to the hard handle and allows for greater grip.

2. You change weights by simply flipping small switches that correspond to the weight you want to access. This is a great improvement over the pin system implemented by many other brands. It is much faster to flip a switch than to remove and reinsert a clip!

Both of these design features set the Xvest Turbobells apart from many of the best competing brands. They work together to ensure you are always in control of the weight and don’t have to worry about them slipping or dropping to the ground.

There have been some complaints about small plastic pieces on the Xvest Turbobells breaking or some weight plates slipping out while in use. This is a problem with all adjustable dumbbells from time to time, so make sure you are always double checking that the weight plates are securely engaged prior to doing any overhead movements.
